About Kings Mountain, NC - Happy to be your hometown Heating & Air Conditioning Contractor!
Kings Mountain is a suburban city found within Gaston and Cleveland counties. It is located within the Charlotte Metro Area and was home to about 10,800 people as of 2017. The settlement was originally called White Plains, but the name was changed after city incorporation in 1874 in honor of the historic 1780 Battle of Kings Mountain, which occurred in nearby York County, South Carolina. Kings Mountain residents can easily access other municipalities via Interstate 85, as Gaffney is 21 miles southwest and Charlotte is only 30 miles west.
There are plenty of things to see and do in Kings Mountain, but most attractions involve the great outdoors. Crowders Mountain is a hotspot for both rock climbers and general outdoor enthusiasts, offering over 5,000 acres of trails and rocky ledges. The Kings Mountain Gateway Trail begins about ½ mile south of the downtown area, and in addition to a scenic hiking, biking, and walking trail, it also offers picnic facilities. Outdoor recreation is also available at Hound’s Campground and Patriot Park.
Located in the Piedmont region of the Southeast, Kings Mountain features four distinct seasons typical of a humid subtropical climate. Summers here are hot, hazy, and humid, and they tend to be long in duration. Temperatures often rise above 90 degrees Fahrenheit, so staying cool is a major priority for locals throughout the season. Central air conditioning systems are ideal for Kings Mountain residents with allergies or concerns about air contaminants, as it works with the air handler of a furnace. This means that air will first travel through the filter, removing dust, allergens, and other particles.
Winters in Kings Mountain offer vastly different conditions from the summer months. The season is relatively short and features cool temperatures with the potential for snow. The area only receives about six inches per year, but freezing temperatures are a greater concern, especially overnight. A properly-sized gas or electric furnace will keep homes warm throughout the season.
