About Forest City, NC - Happy to be your hometown Heating & Air Conditioning Contractor!
Originally known as Burnt Chimney, Forest City is a town located in North Carolina’s Rutherford County. Approximately 7,500 people call Forest City home, and it serves as a commercial hub for the region. Forest City is located at the foothills of the Smoky and Blue Ridge Mountain, and it is found six miles east of Rutherfordton. The town is also easily accessible to other communities, as it is interconnected by three major US highways: 64, 74, and 221.
Forest City is a primarily residential town with commercial centers, but other attractions also exist. There are several museums found in town, including the Bennett Classical Auto Museum and the Rutherford County Farm Museum. The community is popular during the Christmas season, as the downtown area is lit up with over 500,000 lights, and residents can enjoy rides on a horse-drawn carriage. Downtown Forest City is also home to many dining opportunities, including Copper Penny Grill, Twisted Pear, and Moe’s Original BBQ.
Forest City is found within a humid subtropical climate zone. Carolina blue skies are enjoyed throughout the year here, leading to especially warm weather during the summer. Average daily highs reach the upper 80s in July and August, but there is an average of 44 days in which thermostat readings surpass 90 degrees Fahrenheit. Central air conditioning systems or the cooling function of an electric heat pump will get significant use throughout the season.
Mild winters are one of the biggest perks of living in the South, and the same can be said for Forest City. Still, cold weather finds its way into the region a few times per year, leaving behind an average accumulation of six inches of snowfall. While daily highs reach about 50 degrees Fahrenheit, average lows fall to around 29 degrees, so it is important to have the right climate controls in the form of a gas or electric furnace at home.
